About DaMontá

DaMontá W. Madden (he/him) is a human who is constantly developing an appreciation for the inspiration (of/through life) and disseminating within and outside the spaces in the world which are threaded and entangled with life's fabric and the debris that comes with the spectrum of the sound and the unlike.

He says: "Art, to me, is a plant that needs the sun, yearning curiously through the soil and unlocking nutrients that complement oxygen and other elements, a nurturing resilience toward growth; my diligence to produce art and share is a 'thank you' to the Creator for the opportunity to live through discovery and creative engineering. Art is my oxygen."

Storytelling and poetry are creative outlets that DaMontá utilizes, which influences the abstraction and the intricate details in his work. He says, "Words are not always the smoothest for me to articulate, layered energy + emotion equal inertia at times, most times, not in our control, yet attempting to unravel, calculations, colors and conversations in and outside—channeling my energy through my values to produce various forms of therapeutic harmonious art allows me to speak in code with and to the world around me. My vibration, code, and literature are unique to my R/DNA yet are ubiquitous to us all through celf-identity, awareness, and refinement."

He was born and raised in the Midwest near Detroit, Michigan. He was exposed early on to an array of accessible local community art events, jazz music, and Motown culture, which all continue to guide and nourish his soul.
